The studies carried out during her doctoral thesis and the first post-doctoral years focused on the study of <strong>LIM-HD<\/strong> proteins in determining the early neuronal identity of Drosophila melanogaster. She has done several international research stays for approximately two years at the <strong>Institute of Biology III<\/strong> (Freiburg, Germany), the <strong>Neurobiotechnology<\/strong> Center (Columbus, USA), the Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, USA) and the Institute for Medical Radiation Science and Cell Research the University of W\u00fcrzburg, MSZ (W\u00fcrzburg, Germany).<\/p>\n<p>From 2005 to 2019 her research was focused on chicken and mouse models, studying the molecular and cellular bases that drive inner ear development and function within the group led by <strong>Dra. Isabel Varela-Nieto<\/strong> (Alberto Sols Institute of Biomedical Research (CSIC-UAM). She studied the factors (IGF-1, TGF-b2) and the signaling pathways (RAF-MEK-ERK, PI3K-AKT, TGFb\/SMAD) through which the different cellular actions are carried out. She has studied the specification of the <strong>acoustic-vestibular<\/strong> ganglion during early neurogenesis, the relationships between the survival and cell death pathways, <strong>autophagy<\/strong>, proliferation, and early cell differentiation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marta Magari\u00f1os<\/strong> is currently an Associated Professor of <strong>Fisiolog\u00eda<\/strong> Animal in the Biology Department of the <strong>UAM<\/strong> where she is studying the role of <strong>physiological<\/strong> cell senescence during development.
